Allison, MD, FACS, is board certified in orthopedic surgery with expertise in musculoskeletal oncology, complex hip and knee joint reconstruction, and anterior hip replacement. He is Assistant Director of Orthopedic Oncology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at University of Southern California, and Co-Director of Pediatric Orthopedic Oncology at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA).

Dr. Allison is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons FAAOS). He is also a member of the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (MSTS), the Orthopedic Trauma Association (OTA), the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), and the American Orthopedic Association (AOA).

Innovative Leader

As an orthopedic oncologist, Dr. Allison is a recognized leader in the treatment of malignant tumors of the musculoskeletal system, including soft tissue sarcomas, primary bone sarcomas, metastatic bone cancer, and invasive skin cancers of the back, pelvis, shoulder girdle, and extremities. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles on the field of orthopedic oncology and has lectured physicians across the nation on the subject.

Dr. Allison is one of a select few surgeons with longstanding expertise in the direct anterior approach to hip replacement and is the designer of a one-of-a-kind patented anterior hip retractor system. His goal is to help all surgeons perform the anterior approach to hip replacement by training them in this minimally invasive technique and helping them shorten their learning curve.

He has also served on the editorial board and as a reviewer for several renown peer reviewed journals.

A cum laude graduate from Southern Methodists University (SMU) with a B.S. in biochemistry and Honors in Liberal Arts, Dr. Allison earned his Medical Degree with Honors from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. He received postgraduate training at the University of Southern California (USC) + Los Angeles County Medical Center, where he completed combined orthopedic and general surgery internship, orthopedic surgery residency, and fellowship training musculoskeletal oncology and pelvic reconstruction.
